Downtown Park Edge

Widen the Park Border
By reducing the width of Lakeside, new parkland is gained and a bike lane is added to the street. A multi-use path provides a wider space for joggers, children on bikes, and walkers. On-leash dogs are welcomed on a continuous sidewalk along the street. The area around 1520 Lakeside Avenue (the Boathouse) is proposed for redesign to reduce parking within the park and to encourage appropriate shoreline uses. The master plan is exploring other uses for the building such as a restaurant, gondola service, Parks and Recreation reservations desk, an expanded rowing facility, and other public type uses. Wedding and banquet events could be shared by 1520, the Cameron Stanford House, and the Masonic Hall across the street.
