The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) stated that the Fiscal Year 2004 Homeland Security Appropriations Act will provide vital funding needed to ensure the safety and security of our homeland.

To accomplish this at the local level, the Homeland Security Unit was established in the City March 2004 and is under the umbrella of the City Administrator's Office. Working with the Budget Director and the Fire Chief, who also serves as the City's Director of Homeland Security, we are responsible for managing and administering the City's grants and programs related to Homeland Security.
